UPDATE!
BIG 3G switch on
T-Mobile and Orange are adding to what they already offer -- the networks are now planning to share 3G signal.
Just over a year ago Everything Everywhere announced that customers who are tied to either T-Mobile or Orange could share each others 2G signal- promising to support 3G sometime in 2011.
Well today the company made good on that promise; as from next week customers with either service provider will be able to access both companies 3G signal- "Not only will customers be able to talk in places they weren't able to before, they'll also now be able to access the internet, social networks or download emails at improved speeds, in more places," said chief of Everything Everywhere, Olaf Swantee. Last year the amalgamation of T-Mobile and Orange had allowed customers to share their 2G signal -- this granted access to voice and SMS data in more places, more often. The news that the company will unite the two 3G services shows they are nearing the finalisation of the team-up; with the back-office fusion nearing completion. On and Off In order to access the shared 2G signal, customers had to opt-in to it via an online form- however things will be different this time, according the Mr Swantee; customers will receive a SMS message notifying them that they have access to the newly shared 3G signal.
