BlackBerry Messenger Music
BBM Music is making its way to BBM users - playlist sharing to the masses.
From one online music store to another. We reported earlier today on the imminent announcement of the Google Music Store, and now we're here to tell you about BBM Music; RIM's new social music service tied into it's BlackBerry Messenger app. The premise of the service is simple- users create a small personal playlist of 50 songs, and pin it to their account. Friends that are also subscribers to BBM Music are able to access this playlist and stream your playlist to their device. Additionally, users can swap around 25 songs each month, keeping the playlist fresh and relevant. Basically, the more friends you have, the more music you can listen to! Mike Lazaridis spoke regards the experience of the new BBM service :"We have partnered with leading music companies to provide a 'full track' music sharing and discovery experience that will provide users with quality music on demand and allow them to connect with friends on a whole new level." He said he was happy to bring this service to the '45million' BBM fans. The service will be available for £4.99 a month, and accessible on most recent BlackBerry devices. The Canadian company is taking a different approach to it's rival, Google. Rather than creating a store similar to that of iTunes, RIM has created a somewhat more mobile version of Spotify is offering- shareable, streaming content. We'll see how quickly this new service is adopted when it hits BlackBerry users in the coming weeks.
