in Mobile Phones

This weeks return of the Friday Find takes a closer look at a unique way to get a SIM for your network enabled device.

Mobile network providers make a killing from us all. We’re all to happy to part with our hard-earned cash each month for that incredible phone with a not-so-incredible contract deal.

If you fall into this category, don’t worry – you aren’t alone. Fortunately, there is an answer. That answer is giffgaff.

Instead of being tied down with an unfair contract, the budget network provider sends you a free SIM in the post and the only thing you need to do is make sure your phone is unlocked – if you’re phone is locked, giffgaff has compile an ‘unlockapedia’ for the many different ways of unlocking a mobile phone.

Just incase you wanted to compare the prices of all the top networks against giffgaff, check out the conveniently placed table below.

giffgaff runs on O2’s network, so it’s even easier to run O2-locked phones using the budget proivder’s SIM. The SIM will work in all smartphones, so if you want to ditch your older deal, but you’re worried your HTC Desire S won’t work, rest assured, it will.

You can also keep your old phone number – no need to post countless Facebook status’ with your new number. Simples!

Below are some of the great-value ‘goodybags’ available when you top-up your giffgaff SIM.

You can also snap up some great tablet/ dongle orientated de als – from just £5 a month you can secure 500MB, while £12.50 a month will net you 3GB’s of data – crazily cheap, or perhaps this is our cheap things should be?

Micro SIM’s aren’t an issue, either, so iPhone 4/ 4S and iPad users can sleep easy knowing that they can get a steal-of-a-deal too.

giffgaff is a unique network. The company places a strong emphasis on the online community. If you have a problem during your time using the network, you can turn to a wide network of experienced customers.

The Community consists of a forum with literally hundreds of thousands of posts. It you’re stuck, you can search the forum for your question or post a new thread and receive answers from ordinary people – not tech jargon, just what we like.

Our thinking is that the great deals available from giffgaff would go nicely with an iPad this Christmas. What do you think? Let us know below or on Facebook!
