UPDATE!
Siri-ous problem for UK iPhone 4S customers
Are you planning to get hold of Apple’s new iPhone 4S?
A Siri-ous problem for non-US residents is the fact that location look-ups and directory searches are not available for us to abuse. Perhaps the most-hyped feature and service added to the iPhone 4S is the voice assistant, Siri. You can ask this assistant to find nearby locations, or ask it take you to them – just no in the UK. This may be a deal breaker for some people – we’d still love to get our hands on this dual-core beauty. For the time being, this is a US only novelty as Apple hasn’t partnered with a directory service here in sunny Blighty. Ofcourse, if you’re one to read the small print, we were already informed of this on 2 occassions. A slide at Apple’s iPhone event told us of this, and if you’ve checked out the small print on Big A’s site. Stephen Fry also reviewed the phone for the Guardian so, until we manage to get our paws all over one, make sure you check it out. Despite there being a lack of location-based services, we still have access to Siri’s, albeit rather cynical, sense of humour. The voice assistant has a very distinct attitude, and asking it certain questions can be very entertaining. In fact, it’s so funny that a tumblr blog has been created to share its wonderful answers -- Shittahatsirisays. Do you still want one of these powerful phones? Or is the lack of such a key function a turn-off for you? Let us know below, or head over to Facebook to let us know more.
